Morning Light 27

Morning Light for the week starting 26/01/26.

"A man's a man for a' that

Then let us pray that come it may,

As come it will for a' that,

That sense and worth, o'er a' the earth,

May bear the gree, and a' that.

For a' that, and a' that,

It's coming yet for a' that,

That man tae man, the world o'er,

Shall brithers be for a' that."

- Robert Burns (1759-96)

Portrait of Robert Burns

All over the world, on 25th January, people celebrate the birth of Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns. Born into a poor farming family in Ayrshire, he wrote wonderful poems about nature, about stories and life around him, and about social justice. The poem, " A man's a man for a' that" highlights the cruelty of inequalities, the risks of abuse of power, and how honesty and integrity outlast hypocrisy, arrogance and injustice.

Very much the hopeful message that we need today.
