For those who want to talk about grief or dying, with people who may have similar thoughts or experiences. A welcoming, confidential space, for talking, listening and being heard. All welcome, biscuits provided and bringing of own hot drinks encouraged! There is no expectation that you have to attend every week, but you are welcome to come along as and when you can. No booking is needed - just come along, and bring your own mat. These sessions are led by Katie Rutherford. Katie has been teaching yoga for over 20 years and currently teaches at Bruntsfield Yoga Centre. Mindfulness Further information Oct 27 2025 10.30 - 12.00 Mindfulness Course for Staff and PGRs Mindfulness is a well-researched and effective means of alleviating stress, anxiety, and depression, and promoting wellbeing and flourishing in ourselves and our relationships. This 5-week course is intended for those who want to develop skills to deal more easily with the stresses of everyday life and work, and promote flourishing in daily life. It is a progressive course, suitable for beginners and those with previous experience of meditation. It is taught in 5 weekly sessions, and requires about 30 minutes’ daily home practice. An optional all-day mindfulness retreat (online) is included, on Saturday 29th November. The course-book, Mindfulness: a Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World (Williams and Penman), is readily available in bookshops, libraries, and second-hand; you will need to obtain a copy of this for the course. Our weekly Capacitar Tai Chi drop-ins take place both in-person in Sanctuary at The Chaplaincy Centre and will also be streamed online using Zoom for anyone who wants to join online. Further information Oct 31 2025 15.30 - 16.45 PhD Book Club PhD Book Club meets 3:30-4:45pm on Fridays every six weeks, with Dr Kitty Wheater. Open to all PhD students, we’ll read books that cast light on the trials, tribulations, and mundanities of PhD life, offering perspective and inspiration for the time ahead.
