Food Disclaimer

Disclaimer for consumption of food from Societies/Groups and external companies on Chaplaincy Premises

The Chaplaincy is covered by the Food Safety Act 1990 (2004) and Food Hygiene [Scotland] Regulations 2006 (2016). Even though societies are not selling the food and are giving it away to their members, they are still covered by this food safety act and as such will be liable as a food supplier, and will be held responsible for any liabilities brought against them under the regulations of this act.

  • The Society will follow all food hygiene regulations as stipulated in the Food Safety Act 1990.
  • All food items are accompanied by a clearly visible label clearly denoting any allergens contained within as outlined by the UK Food Standards Agency. Detailed guidance can be found at www.food.gov.uk/safety-hygiene/food-allergy-and-intolerance#allergens
  • There will be no provision from the Chaplaincy in terms of service staff, crockery, cutlery, glassware, table coverings and service equipment on the event.
  • The food will be brought to the building in a consumable state and there will be no cooking of food or use of kitchen to prepare the food ready for service,
  • The society will not be allowed to bring their own apparatus to heat the food, no open flames are allowed
  • The room will be cleared at the end of the function and all refuse will be taken away by the society.
  • No food will be left on the premises and all food will be the responsibility of the society. If any food is left at the end of the event it will be taken off the premises by the society and be discarded by the society responsibly.
