Details of Ballroom Dancing Society and how you can get involved. Do you want to learn how to glide across a dancefloor, tango 'til dawn, cha-cha like a champion or simply learn enough steps to avoid embarrassing yourself on the dancefloor? If so, you should get signed up to the best dancing society in Edinburgh! Here at Edinburgh University Ballroom Dancing Society we cater for all ability levels; whether you've never set eyes (or feet) on a dance-floor, or have been dancing the cha-cha since before you could talk we welcome each and every one of you! We have a number of different levels of classes to suit your needs; if you just want to pick up a few steps for an important social occasion or you dream of sweeping the trophies at competitions we have something for you! Our Ballroom and Latin American classes focus on the ten traditional international-style dances: Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz (Ballroom) and Cha Cha, Jive, Samba, Rumba and Paso Doble (Latin American). Our weekly classes are taught by professional Ballroom and Latin American dancing teacher Chris Malone. Here at EUBDS we also regularly take part in a number of Dancesport competitions in Scotland and England. As a member of EUBDS, you are also a member of IVDA (Inter-Varsity Dancesport Association) and NUDA (Northern Universities Dancesport Association), giving you access to compete in these competitions. But of course you don’t have to compete to have a great time in our society! We also host a number of social events throughout the year to let our hair down and have some fun such as our end of semester balls, quiz nights, movie nights and more! So what are you waiting for? Get out your dancing shoes, throw your glad rags on and get ready to spin into the world of Ballroom!
