This 8-session course is intended for those who want to develop skills to deal more easily with the stresses of everyday life, study, and work. It is a progressive course, suitable for beginners and those with previous experience of meditation. An optional all-day mindfulness retreat online is included, on Saturday 25th October. The course-book, Mindfulness: a Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World (Williams and Penman), will need to be purchased separately. The Chaplaincy offers a £10 book token towards reimbursement for this, attendance-linked (6/8 sessions, available on completion). Further information Oct 02 2025 10.00 - 16.00 Move Slowly and Mend Things Set down your phone and come and join novelist Sarah Moss and sound and colour artist Felix Ford to explore your creativity. We will be feeding our care for all that makes us fully human and present. We will work and play with noticing, writing, crafting, talk, and silence, giving you a day of nourishment and reflection, and the new or revived beginnings of a practice of work, art and presence. This 5-week course is intended for those who want to develop skills to deal more easily with the stresses of everyday life and work, and promote flourishing in daily life. It is a progressive course, suitable for beginners and those with previous experience of meditation. It is taught in 5 weekly sessions, and requires about 30 minutes’ daily home practice. An optional all-day mindfulness retreat (online) is included, on Saturday 29th November. The course-book, Mindfulness: a Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World (Williams and Penman), is readily available in bookshops, libraries, and second-hand; you will need to obtain a copy of this for the course. Further information Oct 31 2025 15.30 - 16.45 PhD Book Club PhD Book Club meets 3:30-4:45pm on Fridays every six weeks, with Dr Kitty Wheater. Open to all PhD students, we’ll read books that cast light on the trials, tribulations, and mundanities of PhD life, offering perspective and inspiration for the time ahead.
